Therapies
Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions. It works with the structure and function of the body, and is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues functioning smoothly together.
To an osteopath, for your body to work well, its structure must also work well. Osteopaths work to restore your body to a state of balance, where possible without the use of drugs or surgery. Osteopaths use touch, physical manipulation, stretching and massage to increase the mobility of joints, to relieve muscle tension, to enhance the blood and nerve supply to tissues, and to help your body’s own healing mechanisms. They may also provide advice on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and help prevent symptoms recurring.
Specialist Hand Therapy
Hand therapy is the non surgical management of hand disorders and injuries and post operative treatment using physical methods such as exercise, splinting and wound care.
Conditions Treated:
Carpal tunnel syndrome
Fractures / Dislocations
Soft tissue injuries
Ligament injuries
Dupuytrens
Tendon injuries
Hypermobility
CRPS
Dequervains
Trigger finger/thumb
Arthritis
Joint stiffness/ contractures
Unexplained hand pain
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy helps restore movement and function following injury, illness, or disability. Physiotherapists use their expertise to improve a wide range of physical problems across different bodily systems. This holistic discipline focuses on both immediate challenges and long-term rehabilitation, empowering individuals to regain independence and confidence. Tailored treatment plans support recovery and overall wellbeing, with practitioners working collaboratively to achieve optimal outcomes.
Soft Tissue Therapy
Soft Tissue Therapy
Soft tissue therapists treat musculoskeletal injury, pain and dysfunction
Although sport can be a common factor with many of our patients, this is far from being the main issue we deal with. Soft tissue work is appropriate regardless of age, gender or level of fitness – there’s no need to own a tracksuit!
The benefits of soft tissue therapy for all patients whether elite athletes or stressed-out office workers include:
Improved posture & flexibility
Reduced pain
Improved recovery & enhanced rehabilitation
Increased sporting performance
Injury prevention & improved muscle balance
Increased circulation & removal of metabolic waste
Psychological and physical relaxation
Sports Massage
Sports massage developed to help athletes prepare their bodies for optimal performance, recover after a big event, or function well during training. It emphasizes prevention and healing of injuries to the muscles and tendons.
Naturopathy
Naturopathy is a drug-free system of medicine, where we treat the body through natural healing procedures. When taking prescribed medicine, you may find that it doesn’t remove some of the pain you may be feeling – this is because it removes the symptoms; not the root problem. At Osteopathics, we aim to remove this common barrier and empower your body to achieve a long term cure for the problems you may be suffering from. Naturopathy uses natural products and techniques to completely reinvigorate your body.
Sports Physiotherapy
Sports physiotherapy aims to prevent, diagnose, and treat athletic injuries. It uses manual therapy, exercise rehab, and biomechanical assessments to aid recovery, boost performance, and lower re-injury risk.
What it involves
- Assessment: Movement and strength testing.
- Treatment: Joint mobilization, soft tissue therapy, and modalities like electrotherapy.
- Rehabilitation: Tailored exercises for strength, flexibility, and sport-specific movements.
- Prevention: Training advice and injury-prevention strategies.
Who it's for
- Athletes of any level and age, or anyone active in sports.
Key goals
- Restore function, support injury recovery, enhance overall fitness, and ensure safe return to activity.
Medical Acupuncture
Medical Acupuncture (sometimes referred to as Dry Needling) is the use of filament needles to treat pains in soft tissues in your body such as your muscles, tendons and ligaments which ultimately restricts pain and restores the natural health of the area without the use of drugs. Based on neurophysiological theory, the therapy predominantly treats over-active muscles known as trigger-points or ‘knots’.
Cranial Osteopathy
Cranial osteopathy is a gentle technique that promotes the release of stress and tension throughout the body, including the head. Suitable for all ages, this approach is often used for headaches, sleep disturbances, and general discomfort. Practitioners use their refined sense of touch to identify and relieve tension, encouraging natural healing and deep relaxation.
Laser Therapy
Laser Therapy
Laser therapy uses focused light energy to stimulate healing in tissues affected by injury or inflammation. This non-invasive treatment can reduce pain, decrease swelling, and accelerate tissue repair by enhancing cellular activity. It is often integrated into rehabilitation plans for musculoskeletal conditions, sports injuries, and chronic pain, supporting overall recovery and wellbeing.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound therapy uses high-energy sound waves to ease painful joints and muscles. The therapist directs these painless waves into the body, encouraging increased blood flow, reducing inflammation, and supporting tissue healing. Ultrasound is frequently used alongside other therapies to aid recovery and provide lasting relief.
